They say the road to hell is paved with the best intentions. Well, let’s just say our upkeep in the blog this year was exactly that, a really great intention that fell short with all the other activities going on. So we are making this post in an effort to not only make up for the lack of blog posts, but to celebrate the achievements made by the staff, the store and most importantly, our divers!!
As you know, Amy & Brian took over management and operations of the Water World Scuba Shop in late November of 2024. Over the past year, the educational staff, shop staff & management have worked tirelessly (seriously, days off didn’t really happen) to up fit, retrofit, down fit, sideways fit, diagonally fit and, sometimes, percussive maintenance fit (with a hammer) the shop to be a true 5-star facility. There is a laundry list below of accomplishments we are so proud of. Before we get to that, it’s important to thank everyone single one of our educational & store staff for their tireless efforts, their patience and guidance over the past year. Water World scuba has been in business for 49 years and for Amy & Brian to be handed the reigns is not only an incredible opportunity, it’s one of the highest compliments they could ever dream of. Regardless of that, nothing would of changed without our amazing staff! Thank you to EVERYONE for all the work over the past year! This is only the beginning!
So what have we accomplished over the past year? Each item below wasn’t a quick fix. Most were completely redesigned concepts, processes or even from scratch fabrications & installations:
- Built and installed a custom, state of the art fill panel allowing for immediate cylinder fills of both air and EANx.
- Installed 2 new cascade bank systems holding over 11000 cuft of air & 4400 cuft of EANx.
- Roughly doubled the size of our rental inventory.
- Completed our rebranding from Water World to Triangle Dive Shop.
- Developed and held the 1st ever “Scuba Field Day” complete with egg races, underwater putt putt and more!
- Completely rebuilt our webpage, e-commerce platforms.
- Built storage racks for 140+ cylinders (and it’s still not enough).
- Led an amazing trip to Bonaire for 2 weeks!
- Restarted our charter trips
- Established and grew our social media presence to allow our divers to easily connect with each other.
- Re-established contact with the industry’s best equipment vendors and refreshed the entire store inventory.
- Increased the functional inventory to have the majority of what we sell in stock.
- Arranged and ran an Instructor Development Course (IDC), the 1st one in several year, resulting in 2 new instructors.
- Increased the amount of student certifications by over 300% compared to 2024.
- Re-arranged the sales floor not once, not twice, but 3 times.
- Developed the most amazing logo (after a few false starts).
- Trained 2 additional staff members for regulator servicing & 5 staff members for cylinder inspections, cleaning & rebuilding.
- Amy earned her Divers Alert Network (DAN) Instructor Trainer credentials, allowing her to train new instructors.
This is a small, but important, list of accomplishments for any business, but to do so while maintaining business hours and not disrupting service is a true testament to everyone involved. Along the way, we have had so many of you, our customers, roll up their sleeves to pitch in at a moments notice. While the above list focuses on what we’ve accomplished, we would not be here with you. We also want to wish our longest term staff member, Whit, a fond farewell. Whit retires today (when we are writing this blog) and wetruly do not have ample words to thank him for how big of a role he has played in the last year. Whit, you’ll always have a home at TDS and we can’t wait to see you outside the shop, enjoying your very well deserved retirement.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you everyone for an incredible 1st year. As we close out 2025, we cannot wait to start sharing what we have in store for 2026 & beyond! Here’s a few teasers:
- A bigger, better & longer Scuba Field Day!
- More local & exotic dive trip locations!
- Themed dive outings (scuba socials)
- One of the largest and most experienced dive professional staffs in the state!
