Learn to Snorkel!

Do you love the water, the colorful coral & amazing wildlife but not interested in scuba diving? Our snorkeling course is perfect for you! In this one-day course we teach you the skills & techniques to safely snorkel, about the environment and the physics of breath-hold diving. 

This class goes goes in-depth into the following areas of snorkeling:

  • The aquatic environment (currents, tides, surge, vision, etc).
  • Physics & Physiology (breathing & equalization techniques, pressure, etc)
  • Snorkeling Equipment
  • Additional accessory use (dive flags, rescue signal, cutting devices)
  • Planning your dive
  •  Hand signals
  • Buddy system

 

Who this class is for

We meet folks every day who love the water but aren’t interested in getting certified to scuba dive. This is especially true for folks who love traveling to the Caribbean, Australia or other tropical destinations where the in-water sights are outstanding. While learning to snorkel is easy for most, learning to identify hazards in the water, planning out your dive and safety for everyone is of high importance. Our experienced instructors share both their expertise and experience with you to help ensure your snorkeling outings are enjoyable and safe as possible. 

Course Requirements

  • Snorkeling course prerequisites:
  • We teach children as young as 4 years old, but we always take each student’s maturity into account before class (Under 18 requires parental consent)
  • The student must demonstrate the ability to float, swim and tread water comfortably.
  • A signed waiver & medical form

Gear requirements:

  • Personal scuba gear (mask, fin, snorkel, boots – student must provide)
  • Standard snorkeling gear (Buoyancy vest, dive flag, cutting instrument)

Class requirements:

  • Satisfactorily complete the online learning course
  • Complete all open water requirements efficiently to show mastery
  • Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution
  • Ensure the certifying agency has your photo on their website (no hats or sunglasses)

Time requirements:

  • 2-4 hours for online learning
  • 4 hours of instructor led surface & in-water training
Upon completion of your course, you will receive:
  • Snorkel certification Card (c-card)
  • Course cost: $79.95

  • Your course fee includes:
    – Rental gear (Weight belt, weights, wetsuit
    – Snorkeling e-learning & certification card
    – Instructor fees
  • Expected additional costs:
    – Quarry entrance fees ($25 plus tax)
    – Personal gear (mask, boots, fins & snorkel)
